Fortnite Server Status

Is Fortnite down right now? This page reads Epic's own status feed directly, so it shows exactly what Epic is reporting for login, matchmaking, the item shop and game services — and it tells you when the problem is your end rather than theirs.

Epic services Fortnite depends on

Fortnite can be up while the services behind it aren't — an Epic Online Services outage stops you logging in even when the game servers are fine.

Fortnite downtime — common questions

Why is Fortnite not working?

There are three common causes, and the status panel above tells you which one you're looking at. If Epic's services show an outage, it's server-side and you just have to wait. If everything reads Operational, the problem is local — your connection, your platform's network service (PSN, Xbox Live, Nintendo Online), or a corrupted install. If Fortnite is mid-update, the launcher will block you until the patch finishes downloading.

How long does Fortnite downtime usually last?

Epic doesn't publish a guaranteed duration, and it varies with the size of the patch — routine updates are typically shorter than the downtime around a new season or a live event. Anyone quoting you an exact figure is guessing. The reliable signal is the incident's own status on this page: it moves through Investigating, Identified, Monitoring and Resolved as Epic works through it.

When will the Fortnite servers be back up?

Epic announces the start of scheduled downtime in advance but rarely commits to an end time. The status feed above updates as the incident progresses, and matchmaking usually comes back before every service reads green again. If the panel says all systems are operational and you still can't connect, the issue is on your end rather than Epic's.

Are the Fortnite servers down right now, or is it just me?

The panel at the top of this page reads Epic's own status feed directly, so if it says Operational then Epic isn't reporting a problem. That usually means the fault is local: restart the game, check your platform's network status, and verify your internet connection before reinstalling anything.

What time does Fortnite update?

Patch downtime usually begins in the early hours UTC, and Epic posts the window ahead of time on its status page and social channels. That's separate from the item shop, which rotates at 00:00 UTC every day with no downtime at all.

Is Fortnite shutting down?

No. Fortnite shutdown rumours circulate constantly and none have been accurate — they're usually a misreading of scheduled downtime, a chapter-ending live event, or a hoax. A chapter finale takes the game offline for a short period by design and it always returns.

If the servers are up and you're just here for the cosmetics, see today's item shop or the latest leaks.

When does Fortnite go down?

Epic takes Fortnite offline for scheduled downtime when a new patch ships — usually early morning UTC, and announced in advance on the status page above. The item shop rotates separately at 00:00 UTC every day without downtime; you can see today's item shop here.
