How chapters and seasons work

A season is a battle pass cycle, typically two to three months long. It has its own reward track, its own themed cosmetics and usually its own map changes.

A chapter is the larger container. Each chapter runs through several seasons on broadly the same island, and ends with a live event that closes the story arc — usually by destroying the map. The next chapter opens on a new island.

Epic also runs shorter interstitial seasons occasionally, which is why season numbering doesn't always increment the way you'd expect.

When does the current season end?

Epic does not publish season end dates in advance through any public source. The in-game battle pass screen shows time remaining, and that is the authoritative answer.

Dates you'll find on other sites are usually inferred from battle pass artwork or from the length of previous seasons. Sometimes those inferences are right. They are still inferences, and seasons have been extended before with little notice.

We'd rather show you nothing than a confident wrong date on a countdown, so our season page stays empty on the end date until a sourced one exists.

What changes at a season rollover

The battle pass resets. Unclaimed rewards from the old pass are gone — they don't roll over, and battle pass exclusives generally never return to the item shop.

Ranked resets, so you'll place again from a lower starting point.

The map usually changes, sometimes dramatically. The loot pool is typically reshuffled, with weapons vaulted and unvaulted.

Your locker is unaffected. Cosmetics you own stay yours permanently across every season and chapter.
